On track with travel competition prize

The new Ilkeston Station is open for business − and you could win £70 of travel.

train at Ilkeston Train Station

Trains are stopping at Ilkeston for the first time in more than 50 years − and you could be among the first passengers.

The town's new £10m train station officially opened on Sunday, following a project which we've led with National Rail carrying out construction.

The station stands off Millership Way and Coronation Road on the site of the original Ilkeston Junction and Cossall Station − which closed on 2 January 1967.

Passengers can catch direct hourly trains running north to Chesterfield, Sheffield and Leeds and south to Nottingham. Some trains will also go to Liverpool and Norwich.

And you could win a week's travel, worth up to £70, in our simple to enter competition.

As long as your journey starts at Ilkeston Station, you'll be able to travel wherever you choose.

Trains calling at the station are being operated by East Midlands Trains − which will manage the station − and Northern Rail. Around 160,000 people are expected to use the station in its first year.
